While online marketing and SEO have seen a huge boost from social networking and social media sites, it has also opened us all to attack. Managing your online reputation is just as important as marketing your business. A couple of bad user reviews and negative comments, and your business could suffer greatly. Here we look at some ways to monitor and manage your online brand and image.

•	Google. Simple Google searching of your own name or of your company’s name will give you a good indication of what others are seeing, if you know how to use Google. Search on Google will come up differently for different users. You should test this with your Gmail account logged in and out. You should also investigate by changing location. Attempting to recreate other user experiences is essential. Google Alerts is a great way to know if you name or company’s name is being put out there on the world wide web.

•	Drowing Out. There is no way that any individual or company can control everything that is on the internet. In some cases, you will be able to have some information taken down. What we can do is drown out any negative comments. By creating as many profiles, and pushing positive content about ourselves, even if we do that with other profiles, we can increase the positive balance of content that can be found. This is a very effective strategy that we can have full control over. Dominate content by drowning out the negative search results. You should prepare positive content that is optimized for your personal or company name, and in the event you find negative content, you can immediately exploit your reserve content as a counter attack.

•	Shut Out and Shut Down. Engaging purveyors of negative content will give them credibility. In many cases, it is better to ignore them rather than engage. Instead of confronting them directly, it is smarter to attack them from another angle. By reducing their credibility, you reduce the value of the negative information they have used on you. Using ‘other’ profiles to defend yourself and attack those who have attacked your personal or professional image is a tactic that gives you voice while retaining your integrity. The best form of defense can often be attack.

•	Going in for the Kill. If you want to really destroy the profile of someone who is causing you a large amount of trouble, this tactic is for you. Although you might be breaking some laws technically, it is highly unlikely you will find yourself in trouble. Make your own profiles and email addresses based on the name of the individual or company who is giving you grief. If you have access to their personal or business profile images while you are online, you can use screen-dumping features to take copies of their images. Whether using images or not, using identical names for the profiles you create, will affect the way they appear in searches.

Destroying their credibility and online reputation to the point where they never wish they commented on you, may be your best strategy yet. By making your profiles and content identical in terms of their own search engine optimization, your profiles will come up with their own in search results. This attack on someone can be truly destroying and they may wish they never turned a computer on or connected to the internet.

Article marketing is probably the most rapid way of sending out a message and being heard by potential customers, this is probably the best, most certain and effective way to get to a specifically targeted pool of potential customers. Article marketing is known for getting easily noticed by search engines and reaching your target market. This is considered very effective because a single article can be a huge help in generating traffic to your site. Article marketing is quite easy to understand and in no time you’ll become a pro after taking down the essential techniques.

Article Directories – Back Links for Your Site

By Submitting quality articles to reputable article directories you also create a back link to your internet business website. The reason behind this is quite simple; prominent article directories likely have a higher value to search engines than your site. By submitting an article to a website that has a higher value to search engines than your own site, the article submitted will likely outrank your site for your intended keywords or phrases. First step is to submit your articles to toparticle directories, in the category that closely matches your topic. Generally, it’s fair to say that article marketing is internet marketing thru the use of articles in advertising and bringing traffic to your site and is a fast, safe method in attracting buyers.

Articles for Your Blog

Articles are a great way to generate traffic to your site; they’re not that hard to write since they each vary depending on depth, length and quality. Make sure you’re articles are interesting since interesting articles act like magnets that draw targeted traffic direct to your site. Articles written for mass-distribution to article directories are one method of Article Marketing and can be a great way to bring traffic to your site and increase your search engine ranking. Articles can be submitted online to article directories and publishers, by doing this, you increase the received traffic that comes into your site. This is one way of website promotion.

Content should Generate Traffic

Content articles are great in generating links, boosting search engine rankings, finding new prospects and opening up targeted traffic directly to your web site. You prime goal is to write articles, and submit these toarticle directories , content publishers, e-groups and forums around the Web. But always take into consideration the quality of your content, content is important! WithArticle marketing , you’re allowed to post your content (along with a link to your site) on other people’s sites. The key here is that you should create content that leads the readers to wanting more information from you.

Writing Your Articles

Writing articles that incites the reader’s interest and provides quality and helpful information is a sure way to build up your online business. Writing and submitting articles can be done for very little or even at no cost. Self-made articles and publishing them can be free, the more articles you write the more well known you‘ll be and the more traffic you‘ll get.Article marketing is the most effective way of generating traffic when you can create articles that are of value to a wide audience or targeted niche market.

A blog is sometimes defined as web log or weblog. It is a type of online journal or diary which includes personal comments, web links and images. Generally, people keep a blog for personal creative exercise. It’s now getting popular with many as an online type of writing to effectively market your business and proves inexpensive and practical in communicating for more customers.

The great feature of blogs is that people read them for fun. People may have become bored about advertising, but they will gladly read a blog that has some appealing things to say. Many businesses are now using blogs to convey a better and more personal message about their companies, and the tactic seems to be working well.

Starting a Blog

You may start a blog by finding a space online to write – and the time to write. Develop first a theme idea or blog idea. It’s building a central theme much like the way columnists develop a theme for their articles.

Next step is to find a place to publish your blog. There are both paying and free sites that offer bloggers a chance to publish their material. You may also set up your blog on your web site, especially if you have an active one.

Writing Your Blog

After publishing your blog, you should set aside some time each week to develop new content. When writing your blog:

Write simply and clearly. Use small paragraphs and spell check before uploading.

Go easy on the advertising. Remember that the idea of a blog is to give the readers something fun and exciting to read and look at. Consider writing about your day, the atmosphere your workplace has, rather than focusing only on your company.

Think about many types of content. Your blog will have many readers if you make it exciting by uploading images, creating links and allowing users to make comments.

Promoting Your Blog

There are many millions of blogs on the web and you may not get readers unless you advertise. Mention your blog in your emails and web pages or newsletters. You may also join online competitions, and if your blog wins a prize you will more likely get a constant flow of traffic to your blog. Ask ezines and other content providers to review your blog, which will also draw readers.

Blog Marketing Ideas That Sell

Here’s an important note: Once you develop a blog, you will want to use the best marketing strategies to sell your company. However, marketing blogs are different from personal blogs and blog marketing or advertising is very different from other forms of marketing.

Make Your Blog a Customer Draw

To make your blog an effective marketing tool, you need to get your customers and clients to see it, which means that you have to advertise and provide content that draws attention:

Choose an attractive background color and provide photos and images. You may also set sound. It’s like developing your blog as you would a web site, to make it visually exciting.

Be sure that your customers know that your blog exists. Try some link exchange programs with web sites, blogs and ezines that have similar content to your blog. In most cases, simply providing a link to another website can convince that web master to provide a link to your blog.

Blog basics- Content is the key

Blogs are many things to many people. They’re commentary, they’re humor, and they’re often business blogs, doing online marketing providing information for clients and people researching their markets. They’ve become both a medium in their own right and a defining point of front line media content.

The major cultural shift in blogging is that these roles have raised the bar a long way from the old “website rant” level. Modern blogging is much more like media writing, and content is everything. The best blogs work on high information values to their readers.

A good blog has:

•	Topical, up to date subject matter: The fact is that good blogs are very much based on interest levels. Choice of subject is critical. If you’re writing to a special interest group, you also need to write to the levels of expertise of the readers.
•	Excellent style and expression: Readers don’t want to be bored to death with clichés or comatose text values. A good blog must be worth reading in terms of writing styles.
•	Useful insights and perspectives: Also stemming from the interest levels devolves the need for high quality information and higher levels of perspective on the subjects.
•	Effective links to materials: Where relevant, or where dealing with sources, links are excellent for providing both additional materials and further areas for research. They’re also good qualifiers in terms of your own materials.
•	Good visual and media content: Often extremely valuable to readers, these materials need to be carefully selected for both visual and information qualities.
•	Positioning: This is similar to the marketing “placement” concept. Whatever subjects your blog may cover, consider the target audience. What are their needs?

Basic blog writing

The rules for writers are all pro writing rules.

The particularly sensitive areas for writers are:

•	Quality: Don’t get casual about your material. Writing with free flow is good, but low writing quality is a real own goal. Make sure you’re writing something with substance and good writing values.
•	Content information. Get your facts straight. Do not, ever, make incorrect statements or make clearly contradictory statements. That’s another own goal, and it’s also not great for your writing credentials.

•	Originality: Don’t use other people’s materials freely. There are two reasons for this. Firstly it can affect SEO, and may be rejected by search engines. Secondly it can reflect poorly on your own credibility as an information source if it’s not balanced with your own materials.

•	Criticism: Criticism needs to be understood. You must understand the basis of criticism. Even if it’s wrong, you need to comprehend and assess the value of the criticism on its merits.

Self-editing

Following on from the sensitive areas comes a demand for doing your own editing.

There’s a very simple way of doing this:

Be utterly ruthless with your blog materials.

If any part of your blog doesn’t meet the quality of the others, delete it. The most beautiful pieces can be sabotaged by some dire bit of text which looks like it was written by someone else.

You don’t have to be Shakespeare, but you do have to be good.

Many people want to start to blog or create a website but they just don’t know what to write about. This is common for anyone new to website development. There are some tips and ideas that can help you begin if you are stuck for an idea.

The most important thing to remember is not to do it just for the money! You won’t make money if you don’t provide something that your readers find of value. Also, if you only focus on referrals the chance is that you won’t get any. If all you offer are highlights and no substance you will not capture and keep readers. When this is the case they won’t bother registering with your site.

If you change your approach and give your readers something they value things will change. When your readers are happy you will begin to make money and then you will be happy too. The only way to keep your readers coming back to your site is to provide something to come back to!

Now that that’s been said, begin by thinking about what you are good at. What do you do, what is your passion, what are your interests and hobbies? When you have free time what do you choose to do? List all these things down. Select the best thing from the list and that is what you should focus your blog and site on. Choose the topic you know the most about.

People search the Internet for every subject imaginable. There have to be a lot of people out there that are like you and have the same likes and interests as you do. If kids who are twelve years old can find topics to blog about and make money – so can you!

You may fail at your first attempt but what you will learn will be valuable. Learn from your mistakes and become better in your next attempt. The first challenge is to get off the fence and just start. You can’t succeed or fail if you never try.

When you choose a topic research how the competition does it. Search for your topic. Remember it is not necessarily a good sign if nothing comes up in your search. That could mean that no one is looking for the topic you have chosen. Conversely if there are tons of sites on the topic you have chosen that is not necessarily good either. You may have to broaden or narrow your niche into a ‘micro niche”.

The most important thing is to start and keep at it. It takes time, a minimum of six months, before you may begin to see results or make any money on your blog or website. If you fail don’t give up sometimes the timing of a niche is important. Remember to announce your site to all your friends and family. Use social networking sites to get the word out about your site. Always use your URL in your signature lines.

If you blog you know the headache in choosing a theme. You can spend hours searching for a theme you like and may wonder if there is such a thing as a perfect theme. Well there are several WordPress themes that are pretty close to perfect.

Carl Ocab has created the Ultimate Blogging Theme for WordPress. It is a premium theme and is the highest-ranking theme to make money with! This theme has a google friendly design. The SEO has been tested and produces the best results possible. All you have to do is input the content.

This theme places adds in a flawless manner. You can place a lot of add on the pages without it ever looking over crowded. This is very difficult to achieve but this theme does it. The ads blends well into the design of this blog theme. The developer created the add placement to maximize the click-through rate and increase your income. You don’t even have to tweak any code you can do everything from the dashboard in WordPress.

This theme is easy to install. There are step-by-step instructions in a video tutorial. This makes it easy for anyone, even those who have never activated or installed a theme before. In fact it takes only a few minutes and you can have your theme complete set up. There is not an easier theme to set up than the Ultimate Blogging Theme.

The theme comes in three different flavors. Choose from “Quirky Pink”, “Fire Red” or “Chillin Blue”. Whatever your mood is. Or, if you wish you can purchase the package that gives you access to all six available themes. Whether you are feeling funky or energetic you will find a theme that suits your mood.

You can view a demo of the Ultimate Blogging Theme and see how attention grabbing the design is. Everything just fits into place. The appearance is pleasing and relaxing to look at. The placement of the subscription box makes it easy and you will see an increase in subscribership almost immediately. The subscription box is placed under each post and in the header as well. Even so it does not distract you from the sites content. Your users are coming to your site because of the content and you don’t want to distract them.

With the Ultimate Blogging Theme the best stuff is at the top. Often, there are topics and posts that you want to give more exposure to than others. This theme can do this for you. You have the ability to add links to your best posts. There is a recommended tool that is located under the header. You can create featured posts that will remain at the top of the page for as long as you set the time limit for. This allows you to share your popular content in a visible place. This will help to increase the number of page views per visitor dramatically.

Everyone has a website, it seems! With the growing popularity many template designs that are professional looking are available for purchase and sometimes even free. Even if you don’t know any programming or have any web designing experience you can find a theme and template that will have you up and running online in no time. Your biggest problem will be selecting the design you want to use. What should you look for in a web template?

First you have to think about why you are creating a site. Is it a storefront? Will it provide information? Are you an artist? This is the basic question you have to answer. Depending on your intent for your site will determine how much flexibility in your design choices. If you are an artist you want a creative layout with room for slideshows and images. If you are providing information you may want a site that is more minimal in its flare factor. Content is your first focus!

Layout is the next consideration. Choose a layout that will fit the needs of your content. Are you going to have a lot of text-heavy pages? Will your site require a large navigation system? These are important considerations that a template will have to accommodate. Don’t just go for looks. Many beautiful looking template may be challenging to work with. Look at how difficult or easy it is to make changes to the interior pages as well as your index page.

Look for a site that is easy to use as the creator of the site. At this point you don’t really worry about the end users experience. Your users have no chance at having a good experience on your site if you have a difficult time creating it! When you choose a template that you enjoy working with you will be more willing to work with it and make changes and additions to your content. This will provide your users with more reasons to return to your site.

Remember that there is no one perfect template. Custom templates that you pay someone to build to exactly suit your needs are the only to attain a perfect template – unless you can program your own, of course. You should be able to find a template that suits your needs in the variety that is available.

Color is an important consideration in your web design. The color scheme should fit with your intent or field. The color should be easy on the eyes, complimentary and engaging. Color is something that is easily changed if you find a layout that you like but that is not in a color you prefer

Creating a web site can be challenging and fun. Start with your basic ideas and let it grow from there. With all the template and themes available to you there will be one that should suit your needs. When in doubt it is wise to begin with a simple design as you can increase the complexity of your site as your needs and expertise and experience increases.

When you use a web theme some are more optimized for search engine optimization (SEO) than others. You may not notice this but the search engines will. The main thing to pay attention to is how titles, descriptions and header tags are used across templates. This will help you to tailor how your results will show up. Use permanent links for categories as this improves your URLs for search engines by using more meaningful words. Put posts in one category to avoid duplicate content from the search engines perspective. Only display parts of every post when browsing categories to avoid duplicate content.

Features to look for in blog themes are title and purpose. Your about page should clarify and set the expectations of your blog. Categories will help your users browse and post in key themes as well as clarigying what your blog is about.

If your blog you should include a search feature even if you don’t have many posts. Users like to use the search tools. Be sure to place it in an easy to see, convenient area.

What are tag clouds? Well they provide a nice way for topical browsing of your blog. There are two types – external and internal. External include Technorati tags and helps to showcase your posts in social circles. Internal tags include WordPress 2.2 support will slice up your posts in fine-grained ways.

An effective way to enhance your user’s experience at your site is to include recent posts and comments. This will allow them to discover other posts as well. Viewers generally browse posts by category, tag cloud, related posts or searches. Other entry points include Recent Posts and Recent Comments as well as creating pages to organize your posts in different ways.

If a user enjoys your blog make it easy for them to subscribe by adding Subscribe by RSS. This is easy to add, just put it in an obvious place.

Many themes and templates do not have a default subscribe by email option. This is easy to forget but an important thing to remember.

Where are you allowing comments? Most users prefer that comments are beneath the post titles instead of at the end. Different themes do better jobs with managing comments than other. Decide whether you will show links above the post or at the end. You have the option to change the color and font.

There are so many themes available it is a difficult decision in choosing which one to go with. There are free ones, ones you pay for and others you can have custom designed. It is really dependent on how much money and time you have in choosing which way to go.

If you are just beginning to start a blog or website and don’t really have a clear idea as to what you really want you might want to begin with some free templates to get your feet wet. After you work with a theme for a while you will begin to look at web sites with a different eye. Soon you will know what you do and do not want your site to look like.

The most profitable and most time-consuming way to make money with a Blog is to create Flagship blog site. This is where you focus all your attention to a few niche blogs to make them really popular. The mark of a good Flagship blog is high daily traffic and a large audience. With a Flagship blog you can take more advantage of direct advertising monetization methods. Flagship blogs are for those people with the niche knowledge, marketing know-how and networking skills needed to make the blog successful. After time these blogs actually promote themselves if a certain level of success has been achieved. But creating a Flagship Blog takes a considerable amount of time and effort and is not for everyone.

Another way to make money is by setting up several niche blogs on a free site or your own domain. Build up their page ranks by focusing on the writing content. Submit your blogs to other sites that include: Blogsvertise, Blogitive, PayperPost, LoudLaunch, ReviewMe, Sponsored Reviews and begin to write sponsored posts. PayperPost has the most available paid offers. You don’t need a large audience to make money with this method. If you have twenty people reading and visiting your blogs everyday you will make $15 a day from every blog you submit and if you span it over multiple blogs you could easily make over $1,500 a month. With this method there is no passive income you have to spend time writing blog posts that are sponsored.

Automated blogs, or Splogs, is where you set up a blog that automatically pulls content from RSS feeds, news sources and search engines for the content on your website. Monetization is through contextual ads or affiliate programs. Once set you very little work is required to maintain a Splog. Ongoing SEO and maintenance is sometimes required.
