Do you ever think about being able to write a blog and it takes off and makes you money and you don’t have to work again? This is a fantasy of almost everyone who starts a blog. Unfortunately blogs that make money elude most people. Most blogs receive less than fifty page views a day and are written by individuals for their families and friends. What can you do to beat the odds and earn hundreds or thousands of dollars a month?

The first thing to do is to write about something you really love. You have to balance your idea by choosing a topic that others will find interesting. Popular topics include celebrities, motherhood, or politics. Potentially all blogs can make money but the most popular blogs are about technology or specific products. If you were writing a diary it would have to be very interesting to attract the attention of anyone other than your family and friends. Also, you don’t want to pick a topic that is limited in scope. For example, you probably don’t want to only focus on diet tips, as you will run out of things to say after a while.

The next step is to get traffic to your site. Do this by writing quality content, reach out to other bloggers, and update your content regularly. Advertisers pay based on every one thousand page views. Create interesting titles for your articles. Offer interesting ways to look at a topic that will gain readers attention.

When you start your blog you can monetize it immediately or wait until you have more traffic. Some experts recommend that you have 100,000 page views a month before you think about trying to monetize your site.

Keep realistic expectations, as blogging is not a get-rich quick activity. Most bloggers earn less than one dollar a day with their blogs. You can make from a few dollars a month to over six figures. What you need to do is to start out strong. The first six months are the key to having a successful blog. You want to stand out and try to optimize your blog. The first six months are the most difficult as it is hard to be noticed.

Don’t rely on AdSense from Google even though this is where first time bloggers begin their advertising efforts. There are more lucrative advertisers who will pay you directly to have an ad or banner placed on your blog. Once you are at the top of the search engines results you may begin to receive contacts from advertisers to place ads on your site.

There are other ways to make money by multistreaming your income. Sell t-shirts or other products. You can even personalize products with your logo to sell from other sites.

There is a wealth of information on the web about blogging and making money. Some blog sites are devoted to helping you make money on a blog. What are you waiting for – start blogging.

Perhaps one of the most popular methods of earning money online is writing news and articles for various websites and blogs. It is very convenient as it only requires certain amount of writing skills and fair amount of knowledge on the topics you choose to write.

In blog writing, bear in mind that certain elements or aspects are to be considered. They are important because they serve as guidelines which would impact the over all image of your blog and result on the long run. Listed here are some of the most important aspects that must be considered in order to make your blogging successful:

Write the right subjects

The most import aspect is about writing the right subjects. Pick at least one trend and from there, start writing a blog that would circulate around this niche. Try to follow trends and the hottest issues of the week. Two of the best ways to search for the hottest issues are by following the trending topics in Twitter© and by checking the daily or weekly most viewed videos in Youtube. However, in the case that the trend for such niche has declined, then you might want to reinforce your blog with a new post about the newest and hottest issues, or consider writing a new blog with a different niche.

Post new features or news articles on your blog in a frequent basis

Newest and Freshest articles get the most attention from readers. The more frequent you update your blog, make the reader think that you are serious and devoted with blogging and imply that you know a lot on the niche. Also, readers tend to be interested on a blog that has the most recent and frequent updates. A seemingly dead blog would make the readers hop to another. So keep those posts coming and your regular readers and followers would increase before you know it.

Develop your own personal style of writing

One of the factors that make your blog attractive is the uniqueness of the style in which you write. The uniqueness would make your blog stand out from the rest. Develop your own personal style of writing. For this unique writing would leave a special identity on the minds of the readers which would make them check your blog from time to time.

Adjust your language according to your target group of readers

Taking readers into consideration is a crucial part of blogging. Because in writing, you must shift and tone the blogs according to your pre determined readers. If the readers are teens, the language of the blog must be hippy and trendy. If the readers are professionals and mature ones, the language of the blog must be written a little bit on the formal side. This is important in order to establish a certain connection and familiarity with the readers. Mismatch of the language used may tend unfavorable results on your end.

Popularize your blog

Another important aspect of blogging is the popularity of the blog you are maintaining. The success of a blog is measured by the amount of its readers and visitors. And optimization is the key in order to achieve a wide amount of followers. Utilize proper and popular keywords that match your blog’s niche. Try to visit other blogs and participate in blogging communities. Meeting and inviting writers that have the same niche as yours would surely help a lot.

Use RSS Feed Widget

The RSS Feed Widget is useful and important because it tends to encourage readers and visitors to subscribe to more of your future blog posts. The moment they like the post that they are reading; chances are they would subscribe, and subscribing to your blog is just one click away.

Have the proper Motivation

With the proper motivation, earning money through blogging would definitely be achieved. With determination, perseverance, patience, and open-mindedness, your success and reputation as a blogger would increase through time. Right before you know it, money would not become a problem for you.

Blogging is the frontline of the world wide web nowadays, different kind of bloggers pops in the internet with their own purpose, some want to entertain, some want to express their selves and some want to earn big bucks. The content of your blog matters most, but what will happened to your blog if the readers themselves don’t know someone as good as you exist. That’s why blogging tips of all sorts are floating in the blogosphere. Tips for general and specific improvement of blogging.

Involve yourself on writing projects

There are numerous site in the world wide web that operate writing project. I think that you should submit a post to every writing project you joined. Naturally when the project is complete, this will generate numerous of back links by web surfers that are picking their favorite contributions. You will also acquire a small number of extra links from people that make a post with every post contributed to the writing project.

Don’t forget to leave valuable comments on other websites and blogs

One of the popular and best way of making people to find your blog easily is to join in some discussions on other blogs within your niche. Make sure to leave a good and remarkable comment for this will make the readers and authors realized that you are good and professional. Tracking up comments and following up can also make a good impression of yours. Co.mments and CoComment are popular comment tracking service.

You can link to people when they do good work or send them some trackbacks

This is also a good tool to help people find your blog. This can come in a couple of ways:

a) Many bloggers choose to do it on a more private and consecrate individual post to highlight the work o another blogger within their niche. Through this you will get the chance of a better indexed and a better search engine ranking, it also let the users to comment on your personal posts and brought up a discussion.

b) The second method that is used by bloggers, is to make up a post partnered with several links that go all over the place, such as “Daily Links” or “Weekly Links”. In this way it is not so personal, this will not index well with search engines because the keywords is somewhat disorganized. This will also result to a small number of users to comment due to lack of focused in the subject. This method will need a lot of work and allow you to spread and share more links.

These are the two methods, it depends on you what will you use, but no matter what you choose, make sure that your blog does not become an echo chamber. You can contribute to each link in your post through adding some of your thoughts and opinions to the link. If your post is ready to publish you can send a trackback to each post that you link to. Then if you are linking to a smaller blog, the author may notice and try to see your website. Oppositely, If it is a larger blog, the author may not notice it, consequently those site will display trackbacks and you will often get clicks from their readers who want to see others reactions to the post.

These tips is specially for bloggers so that their website will be easily found by web surfers. But always keep in mind, even though you are good in inviting people to your blog, the content should not be forgotten thus prioritize it. You should write first a good article before inviting them to your website. And, if you are really self-assured with your blog, these are some highly efficient choices that are not free, such as advertising with Google AdWords, Text Link Ads, or running a contest on your blog that comes with prizes.

Tips for creating an effective blog.
Blogging dont follow any rules is it the art of expressing ideas and feelings. A blog may focus to a specific topic such as web design, home staging, sports, or mobile technology.

1.) Be straightforward to your topic

Opinions are generally accepted but the content of the items in the blog should all relate to a general theme. Unless you have an uncanny knack for wit, humor or cynicism, the majority of your readers will be interested in the content that relates to a specific defined theme or loosely defined area of interest. Most readers won’t care that you eat Cheerios for breakfast. They may, however, be interested in the fact that vinegar takes out stains and that toilet paper rolls make great wreaths. Define a topic and stick to it. This will ensure that you create a loyal following of interested readers.

2.) Be substantial

If you are attempting to create the impression that you are knowledgeable about a specific industry or sector, be sure that you stay current on news. If you are endorsing a product or voicing an opinion, be sure to check your facts; your reputation is at stake. If you are offering an opinion, be sure to qualify your post, making it clear that the content is intended as an editorial.

3.) Make a news that is timely

While blogging every day can be a drain, it is important that the information presented is current and accurate, writing an article or blurb about something that happened 6 months ago, will not be of interest to many. Telling your audience that Martha Stewart was convicted and will be going to prison, after her sentence is completed will make people question the value of your columns.

4.) Propose a schedule

Create a schedule and stick to it. Realizing that blogging requires time and effort, don’t create unrealistic expectations and be unable to deliver. An occasional lapse or holiday is generally understood but readers returning to find stale, out-dated content are going to find another blog with similar content. New blogs and RSS feeds are popping up on a daily basis. If you have worked hard to develop an audience and a community you don’t want to lose them due to lack of communication.

5.) Be clear and keep it simple

Keep your posts and blog entries clear and easy to understand. Remember, the web is global and expressions, idioms and acronyms don’t always translate. Sometimes a little explanation goes a long way.

6.) Put multiple keywords

If the goal of your blog is to increase your visibility, include related keywords in the title of the blog. Use the title as a headline to attract interest. Each item post should have a title that will attract attention but still be relevant to the post. The title should be no longer than 10-12 words.

7.) Quantity matters.

In order to attract the attention of search engines, you will need to develop content and substance. A headline or simple sentence is not going to generate the interest of readers or help with search engine ranking. Be sure to archive old blog posts to develop a large portal of similarly-themed content.

8.) Update it regularly

If your blog content is updated frequently, search engines will tend to spider the pages at regular intervals.

9.) Check it for errors

It only takes a few extra moments and can save you from having to make embarrassing explanations. Remember that whatever you publish on the Internet can be found and archived. Think carefully about what you post before doing so.

10.) Try RSS

RSS will increase your blog’s reach. It is important that you include your blog’s content in an RSS feed to increase readership and distribution.

Most weblog audiences are small, but with time and regular updates audiences grow. Bloggers may never have more than a few hundred readers, but the people who return to regularly are generally interested in what you have to say.

Naturally, blogs include a method of getting in contact with the owner or editor/writer of the site – through comments. However, this isn’t the best method for contacting the owner, especially if you need to give personal details or something that can’t be shared with the entire community.

Some blogs don’t even contain a contact form – they rely solely on comments, but this isn’t an ideal situation should a user encounter a problem with your site (copyright, display issues, and so on). Therefore, it is essential to place some type of contact form on your blog.

Previously, we’ve covered Top 3 Contact Form Plugins for WordPress, but through use of Blogger and other systems, there have been few solutions to adding a contact form seamlessly without having to code the form into a new blog post. The best solution for resolving this problem is using a solution that creates contact forms using HTML or using an off-site solution that gives you some of the same functionality.

Kontactr

Kontactr provides a simple, easy way to create contact forms. All you have to do is use their three-step process to create your very own contact form for your website. They even claim that it’ll take “no more than 10 seconds to sign up.” The service requires that you sign up for an account but this is likely due to the need to add your email address.

When you create the account, you will be able to embed links in your website or blog, which presents a more attractive way for your readers to contact you than through a direct mailto link.

Free Contact Form

This form allows you to implement a fully accessible, spam-free form on your website. It is more than just a contact form, as you can use it for other purposes.

While there is a professional version, you can still use the free version, although it lacks some of the main features of the professional version.

Mailjol.net Contact Form

This site provides a solution that allows you to create various forms. However, I noticed that the styling isn’t the most ideal of all solutions, but is desirable if you want a more contact-like rather than survey-like version.

A number of the key features include: No Ads, Unlimited Questions, Easy Form Creator, Spam Protection, and more.

Wufoo

The Wufoo site presents a clear message: to make forms easy, fast, and fun. You can create contact forms, online surveys, and more with their tool, which doesn’t involve editing or viewing a single line of code. They have several payment options, starting with a free solution (one user, three forms, three reports, and ten fields, up to a hundred entries per month) through an account that allows unlimited forms and reports.

All in all, this service stood out the most for me, not for what is included in the free package, but what you can do with what is at your disposal. Just take a look at their Examples Page.

Free Contact Forms

A simple, effective solution for creating a brief contact form for your website.

WRASAP

Despite the rather ridiculous acronym for a simple tool, this “Will Reply As Soon As Possible” contact form does one thing – allows you to place a contact form on your website or blog. It sends you an email message with each new comment, and integrates a CAPTCHA-driven spam filter. Essentially, it’s just a customizable webpage with a contact form.

Response-O-Matic

Ideal for people who want an effective solution, this site offers the ability to create a contact form without the need to learn HTML. Simply tell the wizard what you want to see in your form, then copy and paste the code into your website – it’s truly that easy.

The free account is limited but should suit most users.

Odio Works – Custom Feedback Form

A simple and easy-to-use contact form for placing on nearly any site.

Conclusion

If you choose to search elsewhere for contact form plugins or scripts, please be aware that some have more advanced spam protection, better options, and ways to customize the form template to your liking. Not every solution is easy to use nor compatible with every blog platform.

What are Permalinks?

Permalinks tell a lot about the page it points to. One can read out the article name in the status bar of the browser when hovering over the permalink (by the way, permalinks are the permanent links to every post page which usually contains the title of the post). Search engines use permalinks to categorize the posts. Browsers use permalinks to navigate to remote pages.

How are they created …

Permalinks are generated automatically by your Blogging platform based on the Title of the post.

… in Wordpress?

Wordpress uses the whole of the title with white spaces replaced by ” – ” (hyphen) as its permalink. For instance the permalink of this post reads http://themelib.com/2009/01/how-to-rank-higher-in-google-creating-customized-permalinks-in-blogger.

Wordpress also lets you edit the permalink and make it read the way we like. This feature is extremely useful when you give fancy titles to your post. Such titles which are not self explanatory does not give any idea to a search bot regarding the content of the post. In Wordpress this can be edited so that, what the user reads and what the Search bot reads can be different.

… in Blogger?

Unfortunately, Blogger users are left with no option, but to accept the permalink automatically awarded to them. There is no option to customize permalinks. Blogger just takes the first few characters of the title (somewhere between 35 and 40) and makes a permalink which might be incomplete at times. For a post with the title, “The Advantages and Disadvantages of using a customized permalink every time”, the permalink will be something like http://themelib.com/2008/10/the-advantages-and-disadvantages-of/

What should I do?

Luckily we have come up with an idea to customize the permalink. The method is called “Publish and Republish method”. This is illustrated using the above example (“The advantages and disadvantages of using a customized permalink every time”)

Since Blogger permits only 35 to 40 characters in its permalink, find a short title for the post. For instance, ‘Analysis of Customized Permalinks’ can be a short title for the same post.

Publish the post with this short title. Now the permalink will read http://themelib.com/2008/10/analysis-of-customized-permalinks/

Blogger does not change its permalink even if we change the title of the post in future. We exploit this limitation of Blogger here. Edit the post (Manage posts -> Edit) and change the title to ‘The Advantages and Disadvantages of using a customized permalink every time’. Now the permalink will remain same, but the post title will read the new way.

Conclusion

This trick is useful when you decide to use stylish titles. It can also be used to remove the unnecessary details from the permalink and project the necessary ones. A concise permalink is one tip for SEO (Search engine optimization).

I’ve just read a good news from Blogger Buzz – the embedded comment form is brought out of Blogger In Draft and now is available to everyone. This is probably the most requested feature for Blogger, and I’m sure many of you will want to use this straight away! This feature puts the comment form at the bottom of each post page, below the comments, instead of on the separate, Blogger-styled page.

The embedded comment form is more convenient for your readers because they can use it to post a comment immediately, without clicking over to a different page.

Features of the embedded comment form

“Comment as”: Choose your profile when commenting. You can use your Google account, OpenID, Name/URL and all of the settings previously available when using a pop-up or full page comment form (depending on the settings you have chosen).

“Preview” button: Preview your comment before it is published

“Subscribe” link: If you’re logged in to Blogger with your Google Account, you can also subscribe to comments via email by clicking the “Subscribe” link. You don’t need to post a comment to subscribe

How to enable the embedded comment form

To enable the embedded comment form for your blog, go to the Settings -> Comments page and look for the Comment Form Placement setting. Change it to Embedded below post, save your settings, and go check out a post to see the new form in action.

That’s it. If you are using one of my customized Blogger Templates, you will need to do NOTHING more to your template code for this comment form to display

Try it and let me know what you think of this new feature by leaving your comments below.

One of the first steps in creating a new blog, and any web project, for that matter, is to add tracking and statistics (analytics) to the HTML file or through a method that can directly track the site’s visitors through an external application. But, why is it truly essential to track your visitors from day one?

While you may be a tracking “junkie”, there is really no need to track each individual user unless you want an interactive and thorough level of understanding your visitors <del datetime="2008-10-04T02:43:15+00:00">(I used to do that )</del>. This becomes nearly impossible as your blog grows to a point that it receives more than a thousand visitors daily—no one has the time to keep up with the constant inflow of new traffic.

Putting the stat-aholic aside, the main reason that you’ll want to add the tracking widget to your site is for tracking trends. You’ll want to know, in a snapshot view, the results of different “campaigns”, posts and social bookmarking/networking stumbles and diggs. Without these trends, you cannot grow your site, neither do you know if you are pleasing your visitors (resulting in a general increase in traffic) or targeting the right keywords.

One of the second main factors that you’ll want to consider in the decision to track your visitors is the long-term goals of your website. If you are planning on keeping the website forever, it is likely that you won’t be concerned about traffic and demographics. However, if at any point down the road you want to sell your site by putting it up for auction or sell it directly to a buyer, they will nearly always want to see some sort of proof (from your side) that you do in fact receive the amount of traffic that you claim. Without this proof, you have no basis to sell your site.

Finally, although you generally form your visitor base with the content you write, implementing a statistics program on your site will benefit you by allowing you to more accurately target a market, whether in a specific country, age group, or lifestyle (earnings, home value, etc.). Out of all factors, this may be the biggest reason to begin tracking your site today—you will be able to capture a new target audience, potentially one that has never been tapped before.

Conclusion

It is important to remember that whatever analytics program you use, whether free, such as Google Analytics(up to five million page views/month), Site Meter (more in-depth starting at 25K pageviews), Stat Counter (up to 500 pageview log/250K pageviews/monthly); there are limitations of each. There is no replacement for knowing the exact numbers of visitors by placing the code directly on your site.
