How to Write a Guest Post
As soon as you find the appropriate blog you want to leave a post at, you need to think about how you are going to do that. It is not that easy and requires some effort from you. Copy & paste – the most used technique as of today – will not work as well as the post you have already left somewhere else as this will be considered either an infringement of copyright (protected by U.S. copyright law and federal regulations) or violation of blog’s rules (if any) where you wanted to post your writing.Â
In addition to that, you need to take care of relevance: your post should have something in common with what is already being discussed on a blog you are interested in.Â
Leaving a guest post is not something you can do as easy as 1-2-3. You need to work hard on the content, make it well thought-out, qualitative with no grammar or spelling mistakes, and most important – unique. And here are some points as to why you need to do the above mentioned:
A. Â
People prefer to listen to what smart people say. If you have a good post written, with your point clearly shown and explained, expect some visitors to your own blog shortly;
B. Â Moderators or blog owners where you have left the post will most likely accept it and will not remove since it is of top notch quality. Plus less strict moderation practices will be applied to you next time as you have already earned some credit so to say.
C. Â Next time you post stuff people will remember you. Good authors go deep in memory. Trust us.
Now some tips as to how to create a good guest post. First off, think of a good idea that may pop up in your head. It should be something relevant to what is being discussed on the blog you want to leave a guest post at. Secondly, it should be interesting to the audience, which means it should combine smart stuff like facts they did not know before and some humor with it. And lastly, you should not copy and re-write something the blog author has already mentioned before. Think of something brand new. If you have trouble coming up with that, read some posts and see what was covered and what is missing. The missing part – is your chance to post a good article about that.
Make your article matter. Remember, this is not your blog you are posting at, so you should adapt your article to blog’s audience. If you are running low on ideas, you can ask the blog owner for ideas. Bloggers are usually decent people, don’t worry, they won’t steal your idea.
You may also want to reference some other articles posted on owner’s blog in your guest post. This will more than likely impress blogger and they will never remove your guest post if they see the fact that you are interested to promote their blog pages too, not only thinking about your own blog.
And the final trick we can teach you today is to include some relevant, eye-catching links that will make the reader click and read further information on your website or blog. Think about the anchor text though. ‘Click here’ or ‘Read more’ are no longer unique since everyone is using them. This will result in worse search engine ranking.Â
