Content Optmisation for Social Media
With the rapidly changing landscape of content and location on the internet, many companies are turning their content distribution efforts away from just simple blogs and other article distribution locations, such as article directories, to using a more social media based strategy. As sharing and referrals become increasingly important, in terms of the way search engines view content online, and in the way we as humans use the internet, we can all look at improving the way we place content and how we produce content for social media, so it will attract the most amount of readers. If someone is surfing the internet looking for answers to a question, you want to make sure they can find you. Here is a look at some of the ways we can do that with social platforms.
• Use Social Platforms. By increasing the amount of content we place on social media, we also increase the chance of coming up in normal searches. Your content should also be on these locations, which will mean a user does not even have to start digging around in your site to get the answers they are looking for.
• Consider Related Material. If someone is searching for something they know, the search engines will be able to give them an answer. How do we go about giving someone information that they are not yet aware of? This is one of the biggest challenges for information dissemination. We need to think about what they would be looking for and have our new content associated with that, so a reader can discover it, and most importantly, get seriously interested.
• Better Headlines. Headlines should be given a lot more credit than they currently are. Sure you need keyword density to make it appear in a search, but you also need to think about the human side of your content. The better headline will encourage a reader to look at something – out of pure interest. This is extremely important when using tools like Twitter because there is a limited amount of text, and not much other support.
• Thumbnails. Thumbnails are becoming increasing important. Images can do a lot for anything we look at, and when we are dealing with social media, it is your thumbnail that is getting dragged along with your headline and link. Using a thumbnail that attracts attention could make all the difference.
• Keeping Readers. Now that you have got a reader to your page, you should also have plenty of options that keep them in your content realm. You don’t want them just reading your content on that topic and leaving. It is always good to have associated content and thought provoking headlines to keep them, and lead them to your other material.
• Don’t Forget the Human Aspect. While we have to think about SEO factors, it is important we do not forget about the human aspect of our content the way we disseminate our information. There may be optional keywords that users might be using when they are looking for something similar to your content. It might be worth tagging with other terminology that is often used by people who are not fully conversant with your content material. Slang and new terms are spreading faster than ever before. They are becoming a part of our everyday language. Are you keeping up?
