The Factors about Affiliate Marketing Campaigns
Affiliate marketing networks is an environment that allows companies that has something to advertise collaborate with companies who know how to sell it. And the relationship is called ‘advertisers’ and ‘publishers’. And several large affiliate marketing networks provide hundreds of products to be sold to their network through thousands of publishers.
Affiliate marketing networks generally work on a performance basis (CPA), basically you only pay when a sale or lead is made for you. The sales receive is based on a predetermined cost and then award the affiliate network with a reward for generating a sale for you. Affiliate networks basically pay their publishers for generating sales, minus what the network keeps for itself for putting the deal together. This is somewhat like a shopping portal, but with little differences. While shopping portals give customers a direct connection to the product, an affiliate marketing network places products in direct connection with publishers whether marketing or media companies. Publishers will then simply use their resources in generating sales, are it PPC, SEO, email and others alike.
Although not all affiliate marketing campaign work of all products or services and some affiliate networks won’t accept offers if certain criteria are not met. Most average websites are not marketing ready for affiliate marketing campaigns, redesigning is usually needed for sales and lead conversions.
As much as possible, don’t throw too much information at your customers, product sales usually needs to be presented at a very attractive offer, for example; ‘a free 7 day trial for a diet pill’ ‘free services for 1 week’ or simply anything that can be considered as a bargain.
Avoid offers that are direct to the point, these don’t usually work. There are exceptions, and you may have to work with your affiliate manager in order to get a campaign that’ll surely be popular amongst different publishers.
Considering that the whole nature of affiliate networks can be very risky and dangerous, it’s advisable that only experienced websites should consider this approach. True, Affiliate network marketing can produce enormous sales, but these come with great risks in the process. Some affiliate networks are known as “super affiliates” have the potential to general hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales for each month’s commission. The risk basically comes from both the marketing power through an affiliate network and the performance-based environment they produce.
If ever a good offer comes across a certain affiliate network, where a lot of money can be made, several publishers will market the product and sales are then bound to come in. for products that comes in that does not generate good, or at least acceptable, revenue for publishers, then they will not choose to market and sales will be almost non existent.
Finding the right balance to satisfy all parties involved (advertiser, publisher, affiliate network, and potential customer) can be a difficult task. Basically, parties should be happy to yield successful affiliate campaign. However, there’s bound to be volatility that introduces significant risk, which comes in three flavors.
The Affiliate Network Marketing Risks:
- (1) Not enough business: Significant time and resources is needed to build an Affiliate marketing campaign. Commissioning all types of marketing creative, website design and even bulked up your sales staff is needed. Despite this preparation, your offer is not a money maker for the publishers, and they’re not even marketing your campaign. Because of this, your expenses increased but never gained expected results.
- (2) Too much business: Even if your offer is hot and publishers love it. They love it so much that sales flow faster than what you can handle. Example: you can only handle 50 publishers per day, but because of too much publishers, they give you 150 per day. Whether or not you can address a lead, you still have to pay the publishers for that. Because of this, you’re budget plan cant adapt to it, and you’ll just end up spending money for something you cant even handle for too long.
