WordPress 2.8 Beta 1 Is Out
The first public beta of WordPress 2.8 is available to download today. You are invited to install it, test it, and report bugs for the improvements.
There are lots of new features included in this release, some of them are:
- New Theme Installer routines
- Add CodePress syntax highlighting to Theme and Plugin editors
- Separate Comments into a separate postbox, from Discussion postbox, on the Edit Post screen
- Allow the dashboard widgets to be arranged in up to four columns as set via the Screen Options tab
- Don’t ask for confirmation when marking a comment as spam
- Don’t notify post author of own comments
- Improved Admin icons (grey-to-transparent shadows)
- Improved Widget user interface
- Improved Plugin search
- Autosave post/page when pressing Control/Command+S
- More …

WordPress Beta looks pretty exciting..Even i have never used wordpress before, now i am quite tempted to use it in my blogs..Moreover the features seems quite exciting. Cheerzzz

I saw the new version is out, but it’s still in beta testing so I will still wait before I update my blog.
I hope it gets released within a week or two.
Just saw this update on Twitter and seems like wordpress is keeping up its promise by giving the best of feature with every new release.
Just waiting for the stable version.

yah! I already tested the this version and so far I didn’t see any problems. You know, every release of WordPress makes you say AWESOME!!! So, better try it now and I’m sure you will agree of what I am saying. Enjoy!
Code highlighting and Drop down widgets are my favorite features in this version

Geez, what you really have to ask yourself is, when will the madness end and how many of your plugins will halt or throw up an error code now.
It is only Beta, and it has been getting better and better with every update, but I’ll hold thumbs for you! The beauty of the WordPress community is such that the problems that do surface gets sorted out quite quickly.
The continued evolution of WordPress is an utter joy to behold. I’ve been frequenting WordPress blogs for almost two years now, and am very excited to see what the next two years are going to bring. WordPress is truly bringing power to the masses who previously were unable to have a voice on the internet.
Won’t do the updates unless the release is fully established.
I look forward to the final release too. I couldn’t be bothered to risk installing a potentially buggy beta version. The new features sound great though.
I use wordpress.org… not a pro at all, so I will wait until the bugs are worked out. I am glad to have run across your blog though because I did see some things I am looking forward to in the new version.

i know i have to download wordpress but whats a good host to go with? and after i set up an account with a host, how difficult is the set up before I can begin building a site? and last but not least, can i still import the free wordpress templates?
Actually i dont like to update my wordpress version but i have found that various blogs are facing problem against some miscellaneous code which is reported as a attack sites in Google. to stop such hacking stuff, we have to upgrade our CMS as it is developed by considering such possible attacks.
