WordPress 2.7.1 Released
The first maintenance release of WordPress 2.7, WordPress 2.7.1, is available for download. Since it is just a maintenance release, upgrading is not a must.
In this version, they fixed 68 tickets including 6 tickets with a high rating and more than 50 rated as normal. Most of them are small bugs, not security problems.
You can automatically upgrade from 2.7 to 2.7.1 via the Tools -> Upgrade menu, or you can download the package and upgrade manually. I recommend you use Automatic upgrade, one of the highlighted features of WordPress 2.7. Just one click on the notification menu “WordPress 2.7.1 is available! Please update now” and you are done.
P/S: ThemeLib is now running on WordPress 2.7.1

Updating my wordpress now. Thanks for the update
I suggest you to use fantastico auto updater.
True, I use Fantastico for all of my updating needs. I love it. It keeps me from messing things up…LOL
Have you tried checking on your wordpress dashboard? They have auto installer button there itself. I never thought it can be this easy to upgrade WP.
What is the risk of not immediately upgrading? Does it affect the theme’s manual customizations?
It does not make any difference if your current version is 2.7
I don’t usually immediate upgrade. I wait for Fantastico to have a push button upgrade ready. I haven’t seen any major problems with it yet.
But I do have 2.7 and I don’t get that far behind. This upgrade doesn’t have any security updates so that’s good.
Check on WP dashboard. They have auto update button
Update consists only bug fixes. The template won’t be afffected at all
I will upgrade when having 2.8
I’m a lazy man
I will do the same thing too. But, might reconsider for 2.7.5
PLease do update. Or some one will hack into ur wp using previous bugs
WordPress really has been phenomenal in the recent years. I am obliged that you’ve informaed us so very early.
I think I would rather wait for next upgrade version unless it is available in fantastico.
How and where do you get fantastico?
I get Fantastico through my Hosting cpanel. You might want to start looking there first.
I saw the notice while I was updating a new blog yesterday. I think that I am going to hold up on the upgrade until the next one comes out. Although, I have a client that is still on 2.6 that I still need to upgrade. I better take care of that this afternoon.
So, the automatic upgrade feature really works? I sure hope so.
Yeah I love the auto upgrade feature… time saving a cool.
Auto Update rocks! I just turned my localhost on to do some work on my WordPress project and there it was….You get reminded immediately that an upgrade is available, and given the option auto or manual update. I love WordPress!
That’s funny… when I saw this release one of my first thoughts was to come here to see what you’re thoughts were about it.
I will update it now
I tried the update and got this Fatal Error Cannot redeclare pclziputilpathreduction() (previously declared in /home/laidbac4/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/lib/pclzip.lib.php:5421) in /home/laidbac4/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-pclzip.php on line 5498
Any suggestion? This is the first time this has happened, so what’s next? Thanks for any assistance! I really like my WordPress blog.
Conflict!
You should disable or remove the WordPress Automatic Upgrade first.
I dont use wordpress. Really cannot afford hosting plans. Hehe no use
If you are from US, I have a suggestion. I can help you to get free hosting services where you have the option to install wordpress. You only need to do one survey weekly. That is equivalent as paid hosting now.
That sounds like quite a good deal! I wish I was working from the US. One of the challenges working from South Africa has issued is that no local host can do WordPress, and we have to look at overseas hosts, which is not ideal for optimal download speeds, etc….
oh thanks for the deal. I havent cared for the follow up comments. I thought i need to reply When i just saw you have suggested me an idea. But unfortunately i am not from US. So i think it wont work for me.
Anyway thanks and let me know if you have other options.
You may want to do a file & database backup before upgrading to be extra safe in case the upgrading process goes wrong.
Actually, the chances that something can go wrong are very small. I do not remember when I did the last backup
But I use the WordPress Database Backup plugin, in order t have everything important on my hard disk…
I use WordPress Database Backup plugin too…
just for incase.
haven’t update to the latest, coz the 2.6 is working fine in my blog…
i think in 2.7.0 there is an automatic upgrade so you don’t need to download anything , maybe you mean the manual upgrade ? but why manual and there is automatic system.
Thanks for the info, I will upgrade my WordPress site too.
