I was also unaware of all the things that are listed here. I am a big fan of photoshop but for smaller projects the XnView program looks great. I really like the app Sxipper which auto form fills for you.

try IrfanView, it can save any image format to icon format (.ico).

I’d add SnagIt to this list. I always use it for screen-capturing and editing captures. It’s very easy and useful.

I would suggest Google Chrome and Open Office.Firefox is good,but frequent crashes.
