Blogging Tip : Should We Build Multiple, Similar Blogs?
One common misconception from first-time bloggers is that there can only be a few blogs writing about the same “stuff,” and that as an individual, you cannot have multiple blogs about quite similar subjects. These two topics are often discussed, and unless you live in a world where there is no competition, they do not hold true.
As a prime example, if there was only one company controlling all the news around the world, we would all think alike and wouldn’t be opinionated. Instead, there are thousands, if not millions of people (with blogs and other online communications) that allow our views to be expressed.
Similarly, if there was a restriction on the number of blogs in the ‘marketplace’, very few would have ever considered starting a blog in the first place. It is the unique factor that each author brings to the table that makes the blogosphere a distinctive community.
For this reason, if you feel so passionately about a subject, you can create multiple blogs about it. Now, keep in mind that it will be more difficult if you don’t branch out and cover single subjects that are apart of the main niche, so your blogs don’t counteract each other (should you be able to gain search engine dominance).
Take a look at many blog networks. While they might be branded as having a diverse network of sites, instead, there are several main categories within that brand that can all be connected together to form a “web” that readers visit daily for news, tips, and information.
I’m thinking of the pros and cons of having multiple blogs/sites within the same niche. We will discuss about it on another post
Have a nice weekend, folks!

I personally finds that it is utterly impractical to have multiple blog with similar content.
It is more like a spam blog.
There are several bloggers having multiple blogs. They can easily link in and link back to there own sites as they wish.
But, The contents on both blog may be same, which can led them to a ban from google.
Waiting for the next post where you will talk about ….(better read in the post)
Also I think You used the pic which you used in this post earlier also..Plz. Post some new images :}
Don’t you love that pic? It’s so cute
I think it is related to subject of the post

To a degree I can agree – but as others have said one would have trouble not repeating oneself – plus I’d find it rather tedious.
I don’t think so that we should create multiple blogs as we should focus all our energies on one blog only. Also maintaining two blogs in tandem is a herculean task….A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush!!!
It reminds me of the Engadget team, where they have multiple sub blogs relating to mobile phones, HDTV and such, and then they have blogs in other technology related niches. I think it should be alright. It’s more a question of whether or not you will be able to come up with enough content to keep the blogs humming.
Interesting post. I am actually testing this idea this year. Having 2 blogs in the same niche, but with sligthly different “USP’s”. We’ll see how it goes.
It would make sense to identify niches in the market that you’re active in and target those niches directly with individual blogs. Optimising for certain keyphrases by URL matching and the like, as well as interlinking possibilities between them makes sense, but filling multiple blogs with quality content could prove top be quite taxing.
My opinion is to keep blogging on the same blog for the same type. Don’t have to start a new blog unless we are really prepared and have time to build PR and traffic for it.
I am having a hard enough time managing my single blog for the present. What you say however makes sense and I shall launch a couple more anon, when I get a little more ability to manage my blog better. Thank you.
we are not into the point or subject about PR but rather having multiple blog on the same niche or category. I say no, your article implies about blog network having a different niche and thus yet excel on those.
Even if I wanted to which I don’t, I can’t maintain multiple blogs at a time. It will just take too much of my time. So multiple blogs under 1 subject is out of the question.
I think that blogging takes some time and you have to concentrate on writing if keep your blog updated and I don’t think anyone can have more than 3 blogs with good content. It’s hard to believe
I believe as long as the blogs are closely related, but not the exact same, you should have plenty of unique content to ad to each site daily, and they will work together as a network!
