The future is clear. The future is here. But is it something that bloggers need to fear ?
Today when I received a comment from one of my truly readers - Avatar - said that something went wrong with my Google Search box, I decided to test my blog in Internet Explorer (IE). I haven’t used IE for a long time because its issues : security, standards, options, …
How does my blog look like in IE ?
1. Dropdown menu
When the mouse hovers a item (ex. Wordpress item) contains child/children (ex. Wordpress Themes, Wordpress Plugins, Wordpress Tutorials), all children are listed in FF but nothing happen in IE
- IE

- FF

2. Browse categories
When the mouse hovers the Categories, background color is changed in FF but IE is not
- IE

- FF

3. Google Search
Something when wrong with Google Search box in IE
- IE

- FF

That’s all *bugs* I have found when my blog is displayed in *SUPER* Internet Explorer. I’m sure there are lots of bugs I’ve not found yet! Anyways, I’ll try to fix those problems.
Here is my blog’s Browsers stat today. Sadly, till now, 1/3 readers of my blog is using Internet Explorer ![]()

How about you ? How does your blog look like in IE ?

Yeah…I’m the first now after got the maintenance mode on this site.
Well once I got some trouble while opening my blog http://moderatofm.com using Internet Explorer, but I solved it soon with HTML Link Validation and do some editing based to better solution
i use your personal mag magazine blogger template. i very like it thanks. but one thing, i don’t like the font of post; it looks so blur. i want the font normally and clearly read. i am a dummy, would you please tell me WHAT CAN I DO? I WAIT YOUR ANSWER AND THANK YOU.
You need to change the color of font (in bold)
body { background:#FFFFFF; color:#808080; font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px;}
If you want it black, replace it with #000000
This is one huge… sorry let me reword that.. HUGE! problem for bloggers like myself that design themes. Trying to get a theme to “play” with all the broswers around is very hard. Fortunately IE7 works much better than ie6.. but unfortunately ie6 is still widely used.
If you use IE6, do note that lots of web designers are pulling the plug on ie6. Why not upgrade or even better get the safest browser around Firefox
My blog description out of border in IE.. damn.. never notice this.. thanks for the reminder.. need to adjust the description a little bit..
ack! It’s a nightmare. I just discovered the other day how horrible my blog looks in IE, and even WORSE in MSN Explorer. Microsoft did a great job essentially stealing the browser market by making it a free commodity that came preloaded with Windows. Now 10 years later when the real test of their mettle arrives, they fail horribly always falling back on that “lets see if we cant get the masses to just adopt our crappy technology and lock them into our OWN industry standards…” Firefox is our salvation and hopefully they won’t go that direction ever. I say this- just forget them. I absolutely won’t go re-design my entire site (the theme already includes two specific IE style sheets) just so SOME people can see it in all it’s glory. I’ll just put a link prominently on the site stating that IE users can UPGRADE to Firefox for free, so why don’t they? If they insist on IE, they should be happy with the dim view of the world it affords them.
Dear Theme Lib,
Ah ha…so you did some checking on IE after all… The problem is not really that serious but I understand your concern. I didn’t realize you had all those nifty features available in Firefox.
Overall, the template is still kickass although the Google Search could use some minor realignment (if possible) though.
Rgds
Mine is really Worst, Everything is all over the place. I hope IE will be die
soon so no one will ever use IE anymore.
I hope so, but I’m sure it will never die
Hey, everyone, get rid of IE, use Firefox
How about Google chrome?
Though in beta stage.. still its better than IE and loads faster than firefox too..
Google chrome has Cool designs and very easy to navigate.
Google chrome is faster, but not good as IE and FF.
Same as feeds, Chrome is not understand
Making sure my sites run in IE is my biggest headache. I get something looking awesome then think .. crap I havent checked this in IE yet .. then I open it in IE .. then I go outside and have a cigarette and kick myself for not checking it sooner. I actually have my 3 blogs all running identical in both browsers (for the time being )
You guys might have noticed those 3 entries in the stats graph, labeled as “Opera “. Sure, Firefox is a great browser, to be chosen over IE any time, but you might want to give Opera a try. Their commitment with web standards is very strong.
Oddly, I updraded Everyday Finance to the arthemia template (which totally rocks), but instead of showing up wrong in IE, it actually shows up wrong in FF and Chrome. Total opposite of what I expected. The children appear as a million tabs instead of dropdowns in FF/Chrome, but appear fine in IE.
Thoughts?
I’m sure you did something wrong with the template.
